Tremendously helpful. My big question has been what triggers a need for something more advanced than a ChatGPT subscription (and what that looks like).

This article is helping me get closer to that understanding. Great stuff.

Really liked how you positioned ActionGPTs as the middle ground, that balance between power and manageability is exactly where most solo builders and small teams need to land right now.

Also the reminder to “build what you can actually maintain” feels obvious, but rarely followed.

One thing I’ve found helpful is sketching the whole process like a human team before assigning AI roles. It forces you to clarify the job before automating the task.

Thank you for this.

Totally agree that sketching the process first is such an underrated step. It brings so much clarity before the automation even begins. Funny how the simplest approach is often the one we forget… and the one that actually works.

Really appreciate this breakdown. It’s easy to get overwhelmed with AI options, but you made it clear how to match the tool to your goals and tech comfort.

Thanks for reading, Luan. I've found that for those starting out, full automation solutions can be pretty intimidating so taking intermediate steps can be a way to increase the comfort level.

Tam, this breakdown is pure gold. 🙌 Especially the reminder that the right AI setup isn’t about what’s possible, it’s about what you can actually maintain. So many folks get seduced by full automation when what they really need is a reliable ActionGPT that works with their workflow, not against it. Love how you framed that sweet spot between power and sanity.

Curious to hear what has been your favorite ‘unexpected win’ from ActionGPTs so far?

I like that ActionGPTs strike a balance between accessibility and cost. If you're already paying for GPT and want partial automations (make.com has a generous free plan) it's great. The user gets to go back and forth with GPT and approve final outputs before the automation occurs—not after.

How about you? Have you used ActionGPTs?

Totally agree—partial automation is the real MVP. I’ve been playing with ActionGPTs that auto-draft client emails or social captions, but pause for approval before posting. It’s like giving GPT co-pilot privileges... not a full driver’s license 😅

Biggest win? One setup turned 3 hours of “ugh I have to write this” into 15 minutes of “wow I’m a genius.”

Currently obsessed with blending GPT + Make + Notion for content ops. 🔥

Would love to hear what your dream ActionGPT would do next 👀
